Terry Fewtrell, Chair (Nov 2025 -)

Terry Fewtrell has had a long involvement with Concerned Catholics Canberra Goulburn, being lead author of their submission to the Australian Plenary Council. He admits to having been inspired by the Second Vatican Council, while in the seminary for five years in the 1960s.

Terry monitored the Synod on Synodality and analysed its report, highlighting its alignment with CCCG’s five principles for church reform: Transparent, Accountable, Non-clericalist, Inclusive and Humble. He has contributed to Synod Implementation; by preparing various synthesis, guidance and check-list documents, used in the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese among others.

Terry was employed by the Australian Public Service for 33 years, the highlight of which was his role on the new Parliament House project, liaising with architects, builders and parliamentarians and explaining the building to the Australian public. He then worked for a consulting company for 11 years.

An accomplished author, Terry’s social history George, Elise and a mandarin: Identity in early Australia was highly commended in the 2018 ACT Writing and Publishing Awards. He has written extensively on Church reform and other topics in recent years.

Terry has been married to Christine Lancaster for 53 years, has 2 children and 5 grandchildren and a Canberra resident of almost 50 years.
