Paul Collins has returned to the future of Australian Catholicism in his latest book Recovering the ‘True Church’. The book’s focus is local Catholicism after the Plenary Council. Collins argues that no substantial change will occur until the church moves beyond a monarchical and hierarchical model of operation to a community-based model that builds the faith from the bottom up. It does this primarily through small groups celebrating Eucharistic liturgy together and ministering to the needs of the local community. Drawing on the New Testament and the early church and using Collins’ extensive knowledge of church history, Recovering the ‘True Church’ describes a whole new way for the church to operate.

As he writes he has been at it for the past fifty years and now brings the experience of this prophetic mission to bear in his latest book.
